On 26th February we were finally able to unveil our new building in Lagos and our guests had a chance to explore some of the floors whilst enjoying an exhibition of works acquired by Yinka Shonibare CBE RA over the last 20 years. Curated by our Director Temitayo Ogunbiyi, the show included pieces by Rotimi Fani-Kayode, Khadija Saye and Twins Seven Seven.
The highlight of the day was a discussion between Yinka Shonibare CBE RA and Creative Director of CCA Lagos Oyindamola Fakeye. Our speakers began the session by reflecting on the immeasurable contribution made to the arts by the late Bisi Silva before discussing the exciting future of Nigeria’s cultural ecosystem.
